Bowen Therapy
The Bowen technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that is used to treat body imbalances of all kinds Call for appointment
The Bowen technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that is used to treat body imbalances of all kinds including musculoskeletal pain, respiratory problems and digestive disorders. The gentle moves on soft tissue stimulate physiological changes & energy flow, empowering the body's own resources to heal itself. The work consists of a series of precise moves on specific points of the body. The structure (muscle, tendon, or nerve sheath) is identified with the thumb or the fingers. The skin slack is gently tractioned in the opposite direction to the intended move. Then the muscle is challenged with gentle pressure in the direction of the intended move. Finally, the skin is allowed to move across the structure to the limit of the available skin slack, most often medially, in the direction of the spine. The result is a clearing of blockages and an overall feeling of well-being.

Hip Opening
Saturday Sept. 25 2010 4-7pm
Hip opening 3 hour workshop for all students and levels. The hip joint is one of the largest and most versatile joints in the body. Chronic wear and tear that happens over time to this large, weight-bearing joint can cause pain, discomfort and poor mobility. This workshop will focus on ways to ease some of that tension using yoga poses that promote hip flexibility, stability and strength. The full range of motion in the hip is addressed with both active and passive holding of poses. Working with alignment, modifications and progressions to bring freedom to our spine, low back and pelvis as well as knees and ankles. The benefits are multiple as you not only feel the increased physical openness but also a sense of emotional release as much of our tension and anxiety is concentrated or referred to the hips. Opening of the hips removes the obstructions impeding the free flow of energy through the body. . expansion of this region can release stored toxins, both mental and emotional. This workshop is designed for all levels & will enhance and expand your practice, whatever stage your in.
